Benefits of Ductless Air Conditioning & Heat
June 12, 2012

Ductless air conditioning and heating units have become very popular these days and for good reason. The advantages are numerous and the installation options for homeowners are significant.  Most of our customers live in older homes and the thought of retrofitting them for ductwork is out of the question. Traditional ductwork is almost impossible to run without eliminating large amounts of closet space, basement headroom or attic floor space. Ductless is the answer!

The Fujitsu Ductless Air Conditioning & Heating system is the one we prefer to install. These units are the most efficient and have many comfort options for the homeowner. The options are all at your fingertips with the remote control that comes with each unit. The newest options are seven day programming, motion detection for automatic shut down when no one is in the room and the popular sleep mode.

Our customers have given us valuable feedback about the aspects of ductless they like most. The following are among the top reasons why ductless systems are making our customers happy.

Fujitsu ductless systems are whisper quiet. The outdoor unit is so quiet that you often have to walk up to it and feel the air moving to know that it is running. Traditional outdoor compressors run at a constant full speed mode that is extremely loud. The Fujitsu outdoor unit runs at a variable speed depending on the load demand. The variable speed saves energy and is whisper quiet. Our customers don’t hesitate to place the outdoor units just outside a window because they never hear it operate.

When we do our installations, Kerivan-Lane always tries to keep the outdoor unit on brackets off the ground. This helps keep the unit cleaner, extending its life and maintaining its efficiency. Raising the outdoor unit on brackets also helps keep the snow and leaves from obstructing the flow of air across the fins.

The other great benefit is that the ductless unit puts the AC or heat exactly where you need it. Central systems sound great but are very wasteful cooling areas not used and with over 25 percent of air lost through the ductwork. This way you are only cooling or heating the rooms you live in. Remember the greatest conservation is achieved when you only use what you need and do so efficiently.

The units are installed in about a day and say good bye to those clunky window units. The rebates are generous at this time. Rebates are available up to $ 500 dollars per outdoor unit. The ductless systems can have multiple indoor units attached to one outdoor unit.

The number one objection to the ductless is that the homeowner will now have a permanent unit on the wall. My wife was not too excited about that idea at first. I made a deal with her that I would  remove them if she was not totally happy, no questions asked! Really, no questions asked? Absolutely! Sold.

My wife loves the units. The comfort is amazing. The savings is awesome. She actually points the units out to friends with enthusiasm and the money saved can be used for better things than paying a utility bill.
